The Santhal Tribe of India

The Santhal is the  3rd largest tribe in India.

This tribe habitation lies mainly in West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand,Bihar, Assam.

They belong to Pre-Aryan period and were great fighter during British regime in India.

Language- Hindi, Santhali

Religion- Sarna

God/Goddess- Maranburu, Jaheraera, Manjhi

Dance is the main activity of this tribe.

The occupation of Santhal resides mainly in forest area.

Santhal people have long head and flat nose. The usually have curly hair and dark brown skin complexion.

Their main Festival is KARAM celebrated in the month of September and October.

The Santhal Tribe head is called Manjhi Hadam and all judiciary descision is taken by him.
